Community Engagement Internship

Learn How To Share Information & Build Community

It takes a community to care for the thousands of animals treated at Ohio Wildlife Center each year, as well as keep up with the volume of questions and concerns that come our way from the public. Community Engagement Interns will focus on the public relations side of our wildlife rehabilitation program, working directly with patient presenters and concerned neighbors to share information.

What To Expect

Community Engagement Internship

All teams at Ohio Wildlife Center need to interact with the public to achieve their goals; Community Engagement interns will have the unique opportunity to support multiple functions of the organization though direct contact with our audiences. Learn how to design effective communications and build relationships with others in the animal welfare and conservation community!

Essential Duties

  • Represent Ohio Wildlife Center’s passion for animal welfare and environmental stewardship in all aspects of service; act as an ambassador for the organization by holding philanthropy as a core value.
  • Support admission of patients at our Wildlife Hospital, coaching presenters about peaceful cohabitation and opportunities to reunite animals as needed.
  • Answer questions about wildlife shared via our Wildlife Infoline and Facebook page, providing guidance on capture and transportation or dispatching Wildlife Rescue Team volunteers as necessary.
  • Contact presenters to coordinate releases from our Pre-Release Facility.
  • Support content development for fundraising appeals and donor/volunteer stewardship communications, including photography, writing and design with direction from supervisor.
