This has all been made possible by the donation of 500,000 hours of dedicated volunteer work.

Volunteering

The following are unique volunteer opportunities posted for specific needs.

(If you are interested in animal care or education volunteer positions, please return to our Volunteer Opportunities page)

Hotline Volunteers:

The wildlife hotline is one of the most important services OWC offers and needs your help! Training is provided and hours are flexible for this very rewarding position. Attend the next Volunteer Information Meeting or call 614-761-0134. Current volunteers - contact Lisa Fosco or Mike Seidel asap!

Wildlife Field Guides:

Provide up-close experiences with wild animals for visitors, offer children and adults a chance to discover the wonders of nature and Ohio’s diverse and amazing ecology, and immerse yourself in an exciting and rewarding activity like no other! Attend the next Volunteer Information Meeting or contact Barbara Ray 614-734-9453

Master Gardener/Landscape Volunteer:

OWC's Cook Road facility is in need of a landscape volunteer to maintain our three landscaping areas, walkways on the main campus and possibly our trails.  There is also a need to inventory our current equipment and get a handle on our landscaping needs.  A "gardening group" would also be great for yearly Spring - Fall upkeep!

If you are interested in one or more (or all!) aspects of this opportunity, please contact Barbara or David at: 614-734-9453.

Produce Pick-Up:

Help us connect the animals with their dark leafy greens!! We're currently in need of someone to do the early morning shuffle once a week between local donating grocers and the hungry critters housed at both our Education grounds in Powell and at our Wildlife Hospital near Sawmill Road.

If you are interested in picking up donated groceries and delivering them to either or both locations, contact:

Kathy Shank: 614-761-0134 -  kathyshank@ohiowildlifecenter.org.

Fundraising and Data Entry:

The OWC fundraising department and hospital reception area need help with mailers and data entry.  We also welcome marketing and graphic design talent, but would prefer a more regular volunteer for skilled work.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Kristen at 614-734-9453 or kristen@ohiowildlifecenter.org
