Non-Lethal Animal Control

Humane Wildlife Solutions (HWS) is an extension of OWC dedicated to implementing non-lethal, "animal friendly" solutions to wildlife-human conflicts at your home or business.

How it compares: HWS is a much-needed alternative to the animal control companies that often prefer trapping and less humane methods. Our qualified wildlife technicians explore every situation with environmental, ecological and wildlife consideration.  Please note, as with other animal-control services, HWS is a fee-based service.  All proceeds go directly to Ohio Wildlife Center efforts.

SERVICES PERFORMED

  • An initial inspection of your property that provides you with sound biological information as well as recommendations to permanently solve your wildlife issue
    Removal using targeted, animal-specific techniques 
  • Complete property inspections that include: targeted animal identification and recommendations for a permanent solution
  • Animal removal - Exclusion and prevention through humane removal techniques and methods of permanent exclusion (endorsed by humane societies, animal control agencies and wildlife rehabilitators)
  • Emergency response
  • Reuniting offspring with mother
  • Deodorizing to discourage animal return
  • Education of customers regarding follow-up procedures and servicing
  • HWS will offer an annual contract for landlords, property managers and seasonal residents as well as resident homeowners. The contract will ensure that a property is protected from wildlife entry year-round.

 All proceeds from HWS are invested directly back into
HWS and OWC.

The Red-tailed hawk is a medium-sized bird of prey found throughout North America. It is generally non-aggressive toward humans and other birds and is an opportunistic feeder with a diet mostly of small mammals. Raccoons are opportunistic eaters and can be avoided by keeping garbage and compost piles secure, and keeping pet food inside. This coyote, Hope, was unreleasable because she was hand-raised by humans before sent to OWC, and so lacks certain survival skills. They are often good indicators for environmental problems because of their sensitivity to chemical pollutants found both in the air and the water.
