How HWS is Different

We are a private, non-profit corporation with a simple philosophy: To empower people to coexist peacefully with wildlife by education, prevention and exclusion.

Traditional pest control operators use strong baits to attract animals from a wide area, not just your home. They will place and set many traps, continuing to remove any animal that is uncontrollably lured. The sad and unfortunate truth is that the majority of captured animals are killed, often without consideration of the local ecology, existing population dynamics, family dependents as well as other significant factors. The end result is often a large amount of animals killed at a considerable expense to the homeowner without even exploring the reason why the animals were attracted in the first place. This often causes a reoccurrence of the original problem and a wealthy pest control operator!

Our qualified Wildlife Technicians utilize modern humane removal techniques and methods of permanent exclusion endorsed by Humane Societies, Animal Control agencies, and Wildlife Rehabilitators. By simply excluding the animjal from your home, office or outdoor living area, your wildlife problem is solved, allowing your family to enjoy your local environment without disrupting your home.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has affirmed that targeted wildlife studies have shown 40% of calls to state agencies regarding wildlife problems are found to be a simple misunderstanding of wildlife behaviors. As part of our commitment to wildlife education, HWS provides free phone consultations to people dealing with a perceived wildlife problem.

The Red-tailed hawk is a medium-sized bird of prey found throughout North America. It is generally non-aggressive toward humans and other birds and is an opportunistic feeder with a diet mostly of small mammals. Raccoons are opportunistic eaters and can be avoided by keeping garbage and compost piles secure, and keeping pet food inside. This coyote, Hope, was unreleasable because she was hand-raised by humans before sent to OWC, and so lacks certain survival skills.
