Ohio
Wildlife
Center
released a red fox with the help of a local Columbus woman Tuesday, March 6.
The
adult female red fox was admitted to the
Ohio
Wildlife
Center
on December 5 of last year. She
was the second fox rescued by Lori Stover, a resident on the east side.
These foxes both had sarcoptic mange, a skin parasite causing fur loss,
skin damage and eventually death.
Both
patients were treated for the parasites and then given supportive care during
their recovery. After
completing her 65 day required quarantine (for rabies vector species), this
particular fox was fully furred, active, feisty and ready to go.
She was released at her home site with the help of Stover and OWC animal care
director, Lisa Fosco.
It's
the concern of residents like Stover that really make OWC possible.
Thanks to her, this animal has a second chance at a healthy, happy life.
Thank you!
